Harnessing the power of focus.
“LEARN HOW TO SEPARATE THE MAJORS AND THE MINORS. A LOT OF PEOPLE DON’T DO WELL SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY MAJOR IN MINOR THINGS.”Jim Rohn
Focus is an essential part of success and you cannot overlook how beneficially it imparts success. Successful people who have mastered the act of success show their successes as proof that focus should be implemented in your success regimen.
The meaning of focus.
What then is focus?
Focus is one’s ability to tune the mind complementing towards a particular goal till it is achieved. Focus entails complete devotion and commitment to a goal or a task.
Focus also unlocks your desire and faith toward a particular goal.
Desire makes you long for the achievement of the goal. Whereas Faith keeps your mind hopeful despite challenges you encounter in the process.

Identifying the bad habits that ruin your focus.
Improving focus involves being able to identify what habits tamper with your focus. The habits you need to change to improve your performance.
How to identify bad habits involves the act of introspection. Observe the patterns in your behaviours and pick out any habit that either tampers with your productivity or does not enhance your productivity.
Habits must improve your general well-being and productivity. If it fails to do any of this then you must consider adjusting or eliminating the habit.
You must note that habits have long-term effects on your performance and not necessarily short-term.
This means the bad habit seems harmless at the moment but in the long run, it destroys your performance and effectiveness.
Say, you consume 25 grams of sugar every day, in 2 years you will have consumed up to 600 grams of harmful sugar excluding days you consume more than 25 grams of sugar. Imagine the health complications this causes you.
On another note, say you struggle to save 10% of your monthly income of $10,000. After 12 months you succeeded in saving only thrice ($3,000) instead of a total savings of ($24,000) from a total yearly income of ($240,000).
When you consider it monthly it seems like a little ignorable amount but summing it up by 24 months shows you the huge amount of money squandered in 12 months on frivolities.
Focus works with plans, plans work with habits. When you develop bad habits your plans are ruined, thereby ruining your focus.
To build focus you must check your habits.
The next step is creating good habits to replace the bad ones.
Generally, this fits as the opposite of bad habits.
Consume 25 grams of sugar- Consume more litres of water instead.
Spend five hours bingeing your favourite TV series – Spend 2 hours reading a book and 3 hours learning a new skill to level up your career.
Spending $330 on sneakers bi-weekly – Save and invest the $330 in stocks.
Note that on eliminating a bad habit you must fill the time frame spent on the bad habit with a new habit. If you fail to do this, you might suffer a relapse back into the bad habit.
However, filling up the space with good habits makes it easier to adjust your behaviour and realign your focus.
A. Habit That Is Holding Me Back
Taking too much work home on weekends.

polarized, marriage breakdown
B. Successful New Habit

More relaxed, rejuvenated and refreshed mentally, reduced stress levels, and create unique family experiences.
Having spoken on developing good habits that enhance focus, the next step lies in focusing on your gifts and talents.
FOCUS ON WHAT YOU ARE GOOD AT, ON WHAT COMES NATURALLY TO YOU.
STEPS ON HOW TO FOCUS BETTER.
De-clutter your space.
Working in an unorganized environment can hamper your focus and reduce your efficiency. Before your work hours take time to sort out all the items you need and place them at easy reach.
Discard irrelevant items that will get in your way. This move prevents your mind from drifting all over the place and negatively influencing your focus.
Stay in a serene environment.
With a lot of noise comes a divided focus. To focus better when working stay in a quiet and serene location, away from loud voices, barring music, screeching of vehicles and any plain ol’ noise that can distract you.
This helps tune your attention to the work at hand whilst increasing the hours devoted to work.
Focus on one thing at a time.
I know, a lot of people believe multi-tasking is like a superpower.
They pride themselves on their ability to juggle numerous tasks at the same time but here’s the catch: If your concentration is being constantly broken and redirected to different tasks, this costs more energy, and ultimately more time to complete tasks.
If you want to focus better, you must learn to focus on one thing at a time. Focusing on one thing per time is far more productive because you don’t have to endure the mental stress caused by stopping and restarting tasks.
Single-tasking helps you build your focus which in turn helps you have a productive lifestyle.
Keep the phone away.
Your cell phone distracts you the most while you work. From social media notifications to emails and chatty phone calls. All these chops out your focus making it harder to re-focus after the distraction.
Most people are seen to temporally leave their work for a few minutes on the phone with runs into hours and the chapter of working is soon closed.
To efficiently focus better and work, KEEP YOUR PHONE AWAY. If your work requires using your phone, then silence the notification and take only important and urgent calls.
Build a mental interest in the task.
A lack of interest and curiosity in the work will lead to zero or minimal focus on your end.
To focus better, become interested in the task and envision the endpoint as well as the benefits of completing the task.
This keeps you motivated to continue till the task is completed.
