Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body
Myles Munroe was a fine writer and teacher. He taught intensively about purpose to the extent you’d get excited about your purpose.
Myles wrote the purpose of women with the heart of the woman in mind. He answered numerous questions asked by women in the quest to fulfilling their purpose.
He clarified confusing dichotomies parading the women’s hearts. One of his finest words is “If the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable”. If you don’t know the purpose of your life as a woman, you are mostly to abuse yourself or accept abuse.
And this comes in the forms of accepting less than you who are, embracing ridiculous societal standards of you and plainly not living up to God’s expectations of your life.
Want to know about yourself as a woman, read this book.
T.D Jakes made me love myself as a woman more after reading the lady, her lover and her lord. The book is divided into three sections, “the lady”, “her lover” and “her lord”.
Each of the three sections focuses primarily on the title. “The lady” shows women more of what they are and how they are. It highlights the love and intentions of God when he created you.
“The” lady describes the wonderful qualities of the woman as intended by God. You will fall in love with the astounding words T.D Jakes used to show yourself to you but most importantly you will fall in love with yourself the more.
“Her lover” is the second section of the book and focuses on the love life of the woman. It teaches ways to love your lover and the sufficient way you should be loved.
I enjoyed this section because we all know that deep within us there’s a yearning to love and be loved.
The last section is HER LORD- My favourite. In this section, T.D Jakes reminded women of God’s genuine love for them, his constant compassion towards them and his desire to see them happy, prosperous, whole and fulfilled.
“Her Lord” is the strong cord that binds you to your purpose and to your lover. “Her Lord” is a reminder that you always have someone to listen to you, someone to share your troubles with, and someone that loves you deeply. ” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener nofollow”>Start reading this book.
Maya Angelou was such a phenomenal woman. She spoke with such audacity and wrote with such courage. She freely gave of her own resources; her wisdom, her light, her shine, and her words.
Maya captivated her readers with her true and deep words that connected to their hearts.
In a letter to my daughter, she shared her experiences in life including her embarrassing experiences(one got me laughing so hard).
As they say, experience is the best teacher (but it mustn’t be your experience) learn from the experiences of Maya Angelou in this book, and arm yourself with the wisdom that age gave her.
Oh heavens, I relished this book, and each time I got to the last page after rereading I didn’t want the words to stop. I wanted the words to keep flowing. I wanted to continue in the life of Angel and Hosea.
I was curious to know how they spent each day growing old together, fulfilling their purpose, loving their children and most importantly maturing in their love for each other and their love for God.
I was piqued to know how often they shared kisses and drank of the Lord’s goodness.
Redeeming Love by Francine taught me a different understanding to love. It showed me the whole love. The sacrificial love. The forgiving love. The God-kind of love.
Redeeming love taught me two lessons- Firstly, God will love you no matter what you have done, and he will keep coming back for you no matter how many times you run back to your past.
God’s love is infinite, his love will comfort you, heal your wounds and open your heart to receive His goodness.
Secondly, redeeming love showed me a great understanding of love. It made me see the kind of love we ought to have for each other, the kind of love you should receive.
Without a doubt, love is the foundation of all other things and if you fail to get love right upon what will others stand?
“Love is the greatest force in the universe. It is the heartbeat of the moral cosmos. He who loves is a participant in the being of God.”Martin Luther King. Jr
Becoming is for everybody. “Becoming” is Michelle’s memoir.
The way she tells her youngest memory in clarity one might think she grew up with the notion of writing “Becoming” in her later days and thus held closely unto each memory as she created them.
“Becoming” is the right book to read as a woman, it takes you through the journey of a young fastidious girl who became a lawyer and then the first lady of the United States of America.
It takes you through her journey of growth and her relentless journey to success. She shared wisdom, challenges, experience, and life beauties.
She shared how she became and is still becoming. She shared her stories in her sincerity, stories you can relate to and learn from. Stories that help you create your own story.
I do not have a favourite of anything, I feel the world is too blessed to not enjoy a variety of every form of blessing but every time someone asks me who my favourite author is, I am tempted to say Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
I will excitedly read every word Chimamanda writes as soon as possible and oftentimes more than once.
Chimamanda gives life to her words and her stories, she makes you become a part of the story. She makes you feel what the character is feeling; excitement, hope, sadness, and joy.
She makes you want to lock yourself up and absorb her words with all your senses.
I love Americana because of how real Ifemelu was portrayed. There was no perfectionism or even near perfectionism, at some point I felt Ifemelu deserved a break, but that’s true with real-life challenges after challenges and we feel we deserve a break.
The character of Ifemelu wasn’t bodily perfect or character perfect she made vivid mistakes occasionally but always walked through them.
It shows how relentless we must become in our life’s journey. I connected with the main character of Ifemelu because just like myself she wasn’t perfect.

I love poetry, and this is one of my favourite poetry works. I love how poetic sentences are short and how words flow into each other easily.
I love how simple sentences carry heavy and priceless meanings. I love how they deeply connect with the heart and ease the hearts’ burden.
